Welcome to Draymond Green's Ted Talk
When Draymond speaks, EVERYONE listens! When the terrorist attack on the Capitol happened, he used his post game interview to voice his
opinions “Storming into a building and busting out windows carrying
podiums and all that other stuff, that is not a protest, that’s a terrorist attack. Stop describing those people the same way you describe someone who you describe someone who just stand there and make a chant and say ‘We want justice, we want peace’. Stop using the same word. Its disrespectful. Its ridiculous and its shameful to keep calling them protestors. They’re not fuc*ing protestorers, they’re fuc*ing terrorist.”
The GSW forward was also fined $50,000 for comments he made during his time as a guest analyst for Turner Sports during Bubble play in Orlando, Florida when he expressed that Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker should leave the organization.
He has never been one to hold his tongue and this past week was no different.
Following a Golden State Warriors 129-98 win over the Cleveland
Cavaliers, he spoke on the Cavs sitting former All-Star Andre Drummond amid trade rumors. "I would like to talk about something that's really bothering me, And it's the treatment of players in this league. To watch Andre Drummond, before the game, sit on the sidelines, then go to the back, and to come out in street clothes because a team is going to trade him, it's bulls---. Because when James Harden asked for a trade, and essentially dogged it, no one'ss going to fight back that James was dogging it his last days in Houston, but he was castrated for wanting to go to a different team. Everybody destroyed that man. And yet a team can come
out and say, "Oh, we want to trade a guy,' and then that guy has to go sit, and if he doesn't stay professional, then he's a cancer. And he's not good in someone's locker room, and he's the issue. And we're seeing situations of Harrison Barnes getting pulled off the bench; Green said. DeMarcus Cousins finding out he's traded in an interview after the All-Star Game, and we continue to let this happen. But I got fined for stating my opinion on what I thought should happen with another player, but teams can come out and continue to say, 'Oh, we're trading guys, we're not playing you; And yet we're to stay professional.
Harrison Barnes was traded mid-game in February 2019. Six minutes left in a close game between the Dallas Mavericks (his team at the time) and the Charlotte Hornets when the news that Barnes was being traded. Paul Pierce did come out and say that Barnes was aware that could be traded that night but asked to play anyway. Cleveland Cavaliers head coach JB Bickerstaff responded to Green’s comments, “Nobody’s opinion should be muted. Obviously there's conversations that we’ve had with our guys as far this process goes that everybody’s not privy too. But again, guys have the right to speak their voice and organizations have to do what’s best for the organization. I think thats kind of how it works and it shouldn’t be a two way street, so to speak.”
On the very same night, Detroit Pistons General Manager Troy Weaver told ESPN that were siting Blake Griffin as they try to work out a deal or a potential buyout.
