Tiger Wood's Car Accident: Everything You Need To Know About What Happened
Famous Golf Star Tiger Woods was in a terrible car accident last Tuesday, February 23rd. He was driving a 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV. For the first few hours some of his fans were scared because there was no information given other than he was in surgery.
Thankfully, Woods did not injure anyone as the accident was a single vehicle and he was proven to be sober during the incident. The night of the accident abc7 did a small documentary on the golf player, which was almost like a way to break bad news however, news was later received that he was rushed into surgery straight from the scene and it looked like he was going to live.
The surgery was on both of his legs, which he would need to play golf of course. According to golfdigest.com “ Woods suffered ‘comminuted open fractures’ to both the upper and lower portions of his tibia and fibula in his right leg, as well as damage to the ankle bones and trauma to the muscle and soft tissue of the leg, according to an update released via his social-media account on Tuesday night. A comminuted fracture is when a bone breaks into more than two pieces, and an open fracture suggests bone broke the skin.
As part of the procedure, Woods’ right leg was stabilized by inserting a rod into the tibia. Screws and pins were used to stabilize the bones in the foot and ankle. A surgical release of the covering of the muscle was also performed to relieve pressure due to swelling.”
It took a few days for Tiger to say anything about the accident or give an update on his condition. Woods claimed to have no memory of even driving his car the morning of the accident, which is both a good and bad thing. It’s good because he probably does not remember the excruciating pain his legs might have been, but also bad because investigators need to know how the crash could have happened.
Overall it is a big relief to hear that he is healing and taking it easy. There hasn’t been any word on whether or not he would be able to return to golf and if so, how long. In the meantime, fans are constantly sending their prayers to the woods family, even Former president Barack Obama sent his prayers while calling Tiger the “Goat of Gulf”
