Living on Borrowed Time
In heartbreaking news, Grand Canyon senior Oscar Frayer died in a car accident just days after playing in NCAA March Madness. He was just 23 years old.
Frayer’s older sister Andrea Moore and a third person in the vehicle also died in the car accident.
According to ESPN, a California Highway Patrol car was struck from behind by the car Frayer was in as two officers were assisting a stranded vehicle on the side of the road around 2:30 am in Lodi, California on Tuesday, March 23. Frayer’s vehicle then hit a tree and burst into flames. The two officers did survive and are currently in the hospital with major injuries.
His teammates and coaching staff have expressed their grief via social media. Grand Canyon University held a “celebration of life” at the GCU arena to honor Frayer and others the university has lost throughout the academic school year.
Oscar Frayer’s mother raised him after his father died in a car accident when he was just seven years old.
Sending prayers to the Frayer family.
