BET has released 2020 Hip Hop Awards Nominees
On September 29th BET released the list of Nominees for Hip Hop awards this year. The annual award show is scheduled to premier Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 9:00PM ET/PT.
Currently there are few rappers who are leading the race in nominations. Dababy is the front runner with at least 12 nominations and trailing behind with 11 nominations is rapper Roddy Ricch. Tied for third place with 8 nominations is female rap sensation Megan Thee Stallion and world renowned rapper Drake. Also, with the exception of Drake, the three rappers were all nominated for “Best New Hip Hop Artist” last year which Dababy won in 2019.
Dababy is also nominated twice for “Album of the Year” with his albums “Kirk” and “Blame it on Baby”. According to BET this is the first time this has happened for the Hip Hop awards. Also nominated for “Album of the Year” is: Future (“High Off Life”), Megan Thee Stallion (“Suga”), Lil Baby (“My Turn”), and Roddy Ricch (“Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial”).
All four of the top rappers with most nominations are up for the award for the “Best Hip Hop Artist of the Year”. They are also nominated for two of categories: “Song of the Year”, and “Best Live Performer”.
There is a special category “Best International Flow” for International rappers featuring France, The UK, South Africa, Brazil, and Kenya.
