2022 BET Hip Hop Awards: Recap & Winners

When it comes to awards shows, BET never fails to entertain! The 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards maintained its spot as the #1 TV program for black viewers — which is huge! Between the captivating performances and special moments that took place on stage, viewership was up by 21% this year. Fat Joe, an award-winning artist, actor, entrepreneur and media personality, was the host of the night and opened the show with the “New Atlanta vs OG Atlanta” marching band.

Not only was the crowd filled with many of our favorite celebrities, but the BET Hip Hop stage had a variety of special appearances as well. Jayda Cheaves, Tyrese, T.I, and Trick Daddy were some of the announcers, sharing the winners of the various categories. Kendrick Lamar took home the most awards, six total, with Drake following behind him with three. Even though Award Shows are technically made to highlight the winners, some of the best moments are actually the live performances! With Hip Hop being one of the most energetic genres of music around, the crowd was live ALL NIGHT LONG. Artists like Jeezy, Armani White, Remy Man, Wu-Tang Clan and French Montana took over the stage, while Puff Daddy’s (aka Diddy… aka Sean Combs) son, Justin Combs, won the $25,000 prize in the BET Hip Hop Awards rap battle.
