Kota the Friend

Up and coming new Hip Hop/Rap artist Kota the Friend released his new album, Everything on May 22nd. Artists featured in his album are: Joey Bada$$, Bas, Hello O’shay, Alex Banin, Kaiit, Tobi Lou, Kyle, Braxton Cook, Lil Kota.

Kota started his career in Brooklyn, New York where he is from and along with being a rapper he is also a photographer and producer. Since releasing his first album Anything in 2018 he has released four albums without the help of major record labels.

Throughout his music in his latest album he manages to keep soft beats but his flow in his rap doesn’t change and his lyrics show his edge. Kota is able to achieve the laid back musical beat but also staying true to his lyrics while rapping about his lifestyle. Topics in his album include trying to provide for his kids, women, being a black man from Brooklyn, and also his everyday lifestyle. Kota’s son, Lil Kota is also featured in his song “Everything” and is talked about in some of his songs.

Along with being featured on this album he also has two interludes from Oscar award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o and actor Lakieth Stanfield.
