"Let Go" Mali Music
January 30th, Kortney Jamaal Pollard, better known as Mali Music, premiered the lyric video for “Let Go”, his first single under the partnership with RCA inspiration. RCA inspiration is home to some of the best gospel artists in the game such as Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Le’Andria Johnson and many more.
“Let Go” is a soulful song about hope, strength, and staying within God's favor that was written and produced by Mali Music and David Grant Jr. The Christian hip-hop artists new single has allowed him to step into the Gospel genre of music and also to speak to a part of himself that he said he “always wanted to get out”. One of the main reasons the single was released as a lyric video is because the song is so deep and catchy that a lot can go right over your head. The cover art for the project is a drawing of Mali Music represented as a transfigured Christ with a scroll pouring from his mouth of Mathew 26:41 that reads “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.
The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” flowing out his mouth. The drawing also has a picture of a Georgia License plate, the state where he is from. Not only has music been a means for him to express himself creatively, but it also has helped him to build a stronger relationship with Christ. The song is called “Let Go” because one cannot open doors with a closed fist, you have to “Let Go” in order to receive, move forward, and grow. The song is also about walking with Christ and being in such Godly favor that He ‘speaks’ to you directly. With this being the first single with RCA inspiration, the bar is set pretty high. This new found creative freedom, the revolutionary, soulful, gospel artist Mali Music and his new team have a lot more in store for us this year.
