DJ Tryfe’s inaugural VIRIBUS Ball Hopes To Raise Awareness In the Black Community About Mental Illne
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, compared to the U.S. average of 43%, approximately 30% of African American adults with mental illness are treated annually. Although there is a possibility that this percentage could be lower than calculated. But what is known for sure is the greater need to raise awareness and an increase of support of the importance of mental health within the black community is needed. Due to his own personal experiences with mental illness, Calvin G Seino, well known as DJ Tryfe, had the grand idea to turn his 30th birthday celebration into “The VIRIBUS Ball” that way to raise money and increase awareness.
Tryfe stated, “I used to struggle with mental illness. So, I always felt if I made it to 30, that I would focus on reaching back as I move forward." The MET Gala inspired party is to take place at the Highland Theatre on January 19th, 2020. Hosted by the lovely Candice Dillard from The Real Housewives of Potomoc. Ticket pricing are as follows: $50, $100, and $1,000, With a goal to make a generous donation to the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation. Which was founded by the wonderful Actress her self Taraji P. Henson to help other like her late father who struggled with mental Illness. “VIRIBUS” being the latin word for “Strength," Dj Tryfe chose this name for the ball in hopes to bring that to others.
