Amazon Is Bringing Us A Rihanna Documentary!
Back in September, fans gawked at their screens at the “Savage X Fenty Show.” The show was streamed on Amazon, so the convenience was phenomenal. In addition, there was the “one-of-a-kind event [of] blending music, fashion, and culture,” which is exactly what we expected from the legendary artist. Nonetheless, the special highlighted the behind the scenes of the show, which added the cherry on top to a great opportunity.
Amazon seems to want to continue this same behind-the-scenes action with Rihanna. The company has reportedly set aside $25 million for a documentary of the bad gal. Over the years, there have been rumors of the documentary surfacing. Peter Berg, the director, was even asked by The Hollywood Reporter in 2017.
“We’ve got about a thousand hours of footage,” he began. “This was a fun change of pace. After ‘Lone Survivor’ and ‘Deepwater’ and ‘Patriot’s Day,’ where all these men run around with guns, to go travel with Rihanna Europe, and Rihanna is surrounded by girls. We were in Nice [France]. She was going to do a concert on Bastille Day. And that truck driver who killed all those people plowed through them right in front of our hotel. So even me trying to do something light, I had a very, very front row seat to something that horrific.” Berg also worked with the star during her cameo on “Battleship.”
Although fans, and myself included, are feening for a new album, the documentary doesn’t sound like a bad idea. There have been recent tell-it-all films with other artists like Beyonce and Lady Gaga. Both of these artists worked with Netflix to release the films. Moreover, Billie Eilish has gotten a documentary deal on with Apple Music TV. This deal is also worth $25 million. Unfortunately, Rihanna, nor Amazon have spoken on the documentary yet.
