Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin Scheduled A Duet Before Her Passing
When you think of the best soul artists, Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin are some of the most common names that you will hear. Patti LaBelle, best known for her songs “On My Own”, “New Attitude”, and “Oh, People”, is considered the godmother of soul, while Aretha Franklin, the singer of “Think”, “A Natural Woman” and “Respect”, has left her legacy on earth as the mother of soul. Recently, LaBelle did a conversational interview with Charlamagne the God, DJ Envy and Angela Yee on the Breakfast Club that originally started off as a conversation about her new frozen soul food line at Walmart. She originally made her name in the food industry by releasing her sweet potato pie, but now she has macaroni and cheese, dumplings, and even peach cobblers.
As the interview went on, Charlamagne asked Pattie if it the rumors about her and Aretha Franklin not getting along were true, and Pattie immediately denied that there were any issues between them! She has been in the industry for years, and has experienced a plethora of situations, both good and bad, that she will keep to herself (unless she decides to write a book about her life). Pattie Labelle even said that Aretha Franklin was the best vocalist all time and has a special gift from God that no one can mimic. Nearly three months before Aretha passed away in 2018, they were supposed to get together and do a duet together. The pair has never recorded a song together, but they used to hang out and go to clubs in Detroit when they were younger! Unfortunately, Aretha Franklin died on August 16th, 2018, so they were never able to make the duet happen. Pattie did not mention any plans of making any new music, but she did joked around and say that she will make a movie called, “Pattie’s Sad Days” that highlights all of the people who dissed her over the years.
