2019 Soul Train Recap!

Did you catch the Soul Train Awards last night? Don’t fear. I’m here to give you the scoop. This years’ award show was hosted by Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold and aired on BET and BETHer last night.

With various performances by Queen Naija, Pink Sweat$, Luke James, Ro James, BJ The Chicago Kid, Stokley, and many others, the show kept you moving and uplifted the entire time.

Many artists won various awards and two special artists were honored as well. Yolanda Adams received the Lady of Soul award and star producers Terry Lewis & Jimmy Jam received the Legend Award, both being honored and recognized for their contributions to the music industry. Terry Lewis & Jimmy Jam helped close the show with an upbeat All-Star tribute of songs they wrote featuring Cherrelle & Alexander O’Neal, The S.O.S Band, and Morris Day and The Time.

That was definitely the highlight of the show for me, singing classics like “Just Be Good To Me”, “Saturday Love”, “Tell Me If You Still Care”, “Jungle Love”, and a few others. This years show featured the infamous Soul Cypher lead by none other than Erykah Badu. The artists featured this year included Keysha Cole, Le’Andria Johnson, Carl Thomas, Anthony Hamilton, and Robert Glasper on keys. The artists came together so well improvising while Glasper played Aaliyah’s “One In A Million” and other renditions of songs.
