Tyler Perry's New Series Have Started Off Strong

Back in 2017, Tyler Perry signed a large contract with Viacom. The agreement highlighted the creation of new television shows, short films, and more. Viacom also established that they would have exclusive licensing on each TV program. Specifically, these shows would be made for BET and other Viacom networks.

The results of this agreement have finally made it to our TV screens. Perry just premiered the shows Sistas and The Oval on BET, October 23rd. Since then, there have been a large number of ratings for the network. According to Deadline, The Oval saw numbers of over 1 million viewers for Live+Same Day. There was also a total of 1.5+ million viewers across the streaming platforms of BET, BET Her, and VH1. Sistas premiered with 894,000 viewers. Furthermore, with the other streaming platforms, the viewer total came to about 1.3 million. Each was on par with other BET programs, like American Soul and Boomerang.

The Oval follows the perfect family who is now moving into the White House. From the outside, they’re what America loves and have a beautiful image. However, there is actually various accounts of trickery, deception, and cheating. Stars of the show include Paige Hurd, Daniel Croix Henderson, and Ed Quinn.

On the other hand, Sistas is about a group of Black women who are in the process of figuring out their life. Everyone in the friend group is pretty successful, but they’re all still trying to find happiness in their personal lives.

You can watch both series on BET each Wednesday, starting at 9/8c. Perry also encourages fans to use the Twitter hashtags, #TheOvalOnBET and #SistasOnBET, to stay connected while watching!
