TI Regrets Signing Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea was once a charting artist, after being signed to T.I’s label, Grand Hustle. However, Azalea’s work is not hitting the charts with the same impact. Her recent album “In My Defense” didn’t reach Top 50 on the Billboard charts, while before she has reached Top 3.

While in the prime of her career, Azalea received backlash for stealing from the hip-hop culture. At first, T.I defended his artist, even against legends like Q-Tip. He said that Azalea was only trying to contribute to the culture, not steal from it. Other celebrities like Azealia Banks and Ebro Darden also started to question whether Azalea had good intentions from her career.

Now, T.I. has spoken on his relationship with his former artist and actually admitted that he regrets signing her at all. He believes she is “the tarnish of [his] legacy as far as being an executive is concerned.” In fact, he even speaks on needing a new female artist to undo the mess she made.

“I’m still actively looking for another female rapper who can undo the blunder of Iggy Azalea,” he begins. “To me, this is like when Michael Jordan went to play basketball.

In another interview with The Breakfast Club, T.I explained that Azalea started acting different.

“I feel like she was meant to be great. As far as I’m concerned, she found out that white people liked her and didn’t really need black people to like her anymore. She switched up, started acting different, made moves I wasn’t proud of, [and] that kind of put my reputation in the line of fire. And she was very arrogant about it.” He continued, “it was dope at first, and then she exposed herself to much.”

Azalea took herself to Twitter to respond to T.I. Most of her tweets have been deleted, but here’s the dialogue of some of them:

“The only song you ever were a part of making was ‘100’ Thank you for that, but you were NOT a part of the creative OR executive process on that album. Which is why I’ve always taken issue with you trying to approximate yourself with its success.”

She even hinted that his words now were not matching up with previous conversations. “Seeing a man speaking out his a**hole and blurting out one thing in public and another in private for years is really infuriating. Keep it pushing sweetie and worry about what your next storyline is for family hustle.”
