Mike Hill Talks New Book, New Series, and New Engagement!

Sports journalist veteran, Mike Hill has had one heck of a year. Venturing from his sportscasting career, he has released a Netflix series, announced the release of his book “Open Mike”, and he recently proposed to his leading lady, Cynthia Bailey. I was able to speak with Mike Hill and get the scoop on the many asuccesses he’s made for himself lately.

Mike Hill has been in the media industry for over two decades. Whereas many are familiar with seeing him as a sportscaster, they can get acquainted with seeing him on the Real Housewives of Atlanta as Cynthia Bailey’s fiance. The two were matched by Steve Harvey on his talk show and he later proposed on an episode of RHOA. When asked about the experience of trying to find love publicly, he said “It was odd. I had seen the show before, so I was familiar when I was approached about being matched with a member of the cast. We took things slow, we didn’t expect to fall in love. We just made sure we knew the right way to go.” Although Hill is used to being in front of a camera, reality tv has different tactics. I asked him about the differences in the filming processes and if it was difficult to adjust to. He explained that Cynthia had prepared him for the process of shooting and that he was willing to learn the way things are done on the show.

Aside from his new found love, Mike Hill recently released his Netflix series “Hyperdrive” on August 21st. He described the show as “a mix of Fast & Furious and American Ninja Warrior.” “Hyperdrive” is a series that contains “a lot of fun and adrenaline” as well as backstories of the drivers, car modifications, and heart wrenching stories. Not only did he create a prevailing Netflix series, but Hill also has paired with 13th & Joan for the publishing of his first book, “Open Mike.” For Mike Hill, writing the book was therapeutic for him. He spoke about it being a necessity for him to get things off of his chest. It can be expected for the book to include memories of his past, abuse, death, drugs, trials and tribulations, and even the shocking reveal of his father being a hitman.

With so much going on, it is crazy to say that Mike Hill still has more to come. He talked of a possible new talk show and helping out the black community. Mike Hill is definitely a name to remember!
