Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?

If this were 1980, America would be going to the theatre to see the movie Urban Cowboy. The movie follows Bud Davis as he relocates to Houston, Texas to work in the oil industry. Bub lives with his uncle, Bob, and later falls in love and marries a woman named Sissy. Then Wes Hightower gets out of prison and he is nothing but trouble. The movie proceeds with a mechanical bull and a $5000 prize. The movie is a cult classic and produced a top ten Billboard country music soundtrack. So where are the actors who played in this movie now?

Let’s start with John Travolta. John Travolta, who played Bud Davis, was a star in the 1970’s and 1980’s. He starred in Grease, Get Shorty, Carrie, Saturday Night Fever and most recently, The People versus OJ Simpson. Travolta has won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Academy Award. Next is Debra Winger. Winger played the part of Sissy Davis. She starred in An Officer and a Gentleman as well as Terms of Endearment. In recent years, Winger has spent her time directing the Academy Award nominated film, Gasland. Scott Glenn, who played the character of Wes Hightower, is a well known industry actor and mostly recently starred in the Hulu original series, Castle Rock. Overall, Glenn starred in over 50 television series and movies. The three main actors and actresses in this movie have had very active and successful careers. If they made a remake, which celebs would be cast in these roles...and who would be cast as the bull?
