Joe Biden Makes “Inappropriate” Comment
On August 8th, 2019, Former Vice President Joe Biden made an inappropriate comment in a town hall speech in Iowa. Biden commented that, “poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids,” and that “we have this notion that somehow if you’re poor, you cannot do it. Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.” After making the comment, he clarified by adding “children deserve a fair shot, and children born into lower-income circumstances are just as smart as those born to wealthy parents.”
The town hall, sponsored by the Asian and Latino Coalition, was one of many stops on Biden’s campaign tour. Biden’s audience was majority white, with only a few minorities present. Biden also made comments about Latinos in the democratic debate the week before saying that undocumented immigrants need to “get in line” and the country should “cherry pick immigrants with advanced degrees.”
MSNBC reports that Joe Biden’s lead is shrinking in the pollls. On September 18, 2019 Biden’s democratic support went down six percent, due to racist comments stated in his speeches.
So the question is, “Is Joe Biden a racist or just not the best public speaker?”
In my opinion, Joe Biden is not the best public speaker. After doing research on this topic, there were many examples showing how Biden says one thing, but really means another thing. Also, his 46 plus years in politics along with his voting record mostly leans in favor of minorities. Biden needs to think then articulate before he speaks to large groups of people.
