Queen & Slim

Lena Waithe, an award winning young African American film and TV producer, writer and actress, has worked on productions like Dear White People, The Chi, Ready Player One and Master of None. This year, she is working as the writer for Queen & Slim, a movie that is being called a black and modern day version of Bonnie & Clyde.

Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith are playing two young people whose first date is interrupted by a police officer who pulls them over for a traffic infraction. As the interaction between the couple and the officer heats up, Daniel’s character, Slim, acts in self-defense and kills the man in blue. Unfortunately for them, the whole situation was caught on video and went viral, therefore they have to go ‘on the run’, just like Bonnie & Clyde. As the movie unfolds, it appears as though Queen and Slim interact with new characters that help them stay safe while police enforcement are on a nationwide hunt for them.

Queen and Slim will be in movie theaters starting November 27, 2019.
