Elle Varner has finally announced an official release date, cover artwork, and track list for her new project! Varner cleverly uses wordplay with her name, titling her album Ellevation, setting a standard to elevate higher with her new music. The project is comprised of nine tracks, including the albums single "Kinda Love" and other released tracks like "Pour Me", "Loving U Blind" and "Casanova". There are only a few features including appearances from Wale on "Pour Me"and Rapsody on "Wishing Well”. Varner also made appearances in Houston for the annual Party In the Parkfestival on Saturday, June 8th, stopping by Great Day Houston to perform "Kinda Love" & "Pour Me" live. With her familiar and adored raspy sweet vocals, Varner has made a name for herself with love songs and ballads. 2019, she’s giving fans a “Refill” with her sophomore album, Ellevation.
She expressed, “One of the songs I’m most excited about sounds like it literally came out of the 1980s. Some people call it ‘The Sade Song.’ There are no trap drums. It is analog. It is melodic. It is lyrical and I’m excited to just be like what’s good with this song.” So far, her acoustic sounds have proven to be a level up since 2012’s Perfectly Imperfect. You can catch Varner July 5th at the Essence Festival this summer as well. Ellevation will be released on June 14 via eOne. Check out the track list for the album below!
