Legendary Singer Dionne Warwick Announces, “She’s Back,” Her First New Album in Five Years.
After receiving one of the Grammy Awards’ highest honors, the Lifetime Achievement Award, Dionne Warwick announces the release date for her new album, She’s Back. This will be her first R&B/soul album in fifty years, following the release of her 1969 Scepter LP Soulful, which she co-produced in Memphis with the late Chips Moman.
Produced by her son Damon Elliot, She’s Back is set to be released on May 10, 2019, via Kind Music and Entertainment One (eOne). The single will be a classic remake of the Burt Bacharach/Hal David, “What The World Needs Now Is Love,” which was originally recorded in the 1960s.
Dionne Warwick teases fans with the release of the album by dropping a duet with Musiq Soulchild. The two collaborate to create yet another remake, “Am I Dreaming,” Atlantic Starr’s ’80s hit. The modernized track combines elements of neo soul, while staying true to the beautiful elements of the original. Beginning with the strong soulful vocals from Soulchild, Dionne arrives on the track smoothly, with her classic sweet voice. The album will also include remakes with Kenny Lattimore in “What Color Is Love” and Krayzie Bone of Bone, Thugs & Harmony in “Déjà Vu”. Warwick also is performing a Las Vegas residency at the Jubilee Theater at Bally’s which started on April 4, ending on April 27. The album title She’s Back means exactly that, period. Dionne Warwick is a classic soul singer and is gifting us with more gems to jam to still. Listen to “Am I Dreaming” below.
