Kehlani Releases New Mixtape: “While We Wait”

With only a few more weeks left until giving birth, pregnant R&B singer Kehlani has dropped a new project entitled, While We Wait. Kehlani recently announced two new projects, a mixtape and album are all on the way soon. This mixtape serves as an entrée for Kehlani’s follow-up album to “SweetSexySavage”. The project is comprised of acoustic guitar accompanies, smooth piano loops, and thumping R&B style beats. The features on this project are slim but help drive the diverse and distinct sound Kehlani has created. Her track, “Nights Like This” featuring Ty Dolla $ign currently already sits at No. 76 on this weeks Billboard Hot 100. The mixtape consists of nine tracks in total and includes features from Dom Kennedy, 6LACK and Musiq Soulchild. While We Wait touches on topics such as unrequited love, ex’s minding their business, and self-expression. The tracks all have her tender and soft vocals; however, the context of the songs exemplify a noticeable matureness in her writing.
