Its about that time again for the BET Hip Hop Awards 2018
For those that don’t know the BET Hip-Hop Awards is an annual award show, when Hip- Hop artist, producers, and video directors come together for a night to showcase talent as well as win awards for the phenomenal impact they left on the industry that year.
The 2017 BET Hip-Hop Awards was hosted by one of the best - DJ Khaled. We had Eminem leave his mark with a cypher tearing Donald Trump to shreds.
I’m not sure we’ll see him again this go round, but if we don’t new artist KAMIKAZE has some hot tracks that will surely produce a fiery performance.
Kendrick Lamar took home five awards last year, and one of the hottest female rappers out right now, Cardi B, performed her single “Bodak Yellow” and also won five major awards. All with-in only a few months of that single dropping.
I know we have some laughs coming our way considering Katt Williams is our fine host this year. A few tears may be shed while acknowledging the major loss the industry took in reference to the passing of the late queen of soul, Aretha Franklin. We can also expect to pay our respects to recording artist Mac Miller and XXXtentation. We all will be anticipating a tribute of some kind to reflect on the footprints these artist left behind.
We also have Mr. "Gods Plan” and “This Is America” as nominees for the Best video award….yeah I know right, two of the best visuals dropped in the
same year by two of the best artists in the game right now. They will definitely be up for a challenge with choosing who’s taking that award home.
Nicki Minaj and Cardi B will be in the same building again! We know how that went last time- let’s see how this goes hopefully tension is low. Both Nicki and Cardi are nominees this year along with Remy Ma.
Everybody has some competition this year especially with the lineup for the “Best New Hip Hop Artist Award”: Lil Baby, Blockboy Jb, JUICE WRLD, XXXtentation, and RICH THE KID.
I’m eager to see what will happen! Make sure you tune in October 16th, 2018. May the best artist get what they deserve!
