Essence Fest 2018

Essence Fest: A festival made to celebrate the making of the great Essence Magazine, which I had the opportunity of attending this past week. It was held in the beautiful city of New Orleans, Louisiana and it is an opportunity you don't want to miss. From the energy filled restaurants on Bourbon Street to the vendors and the people speaking on panels in the convention center, everywhere you went you could feel the love. While I was there, I was able to do basically everything and never wanted to leave. One of the best places to be was walking through was by the many vendors who had came out to spread their brand. Businesses of all types were there: clothing, jewelry, art, music, and authors. The clothing was beautiful and I even got the chance to support a New Orleans based clothing line by the name of WRLDINVSN whose purpose is to, “Provide original design and branded fashion apparel for urban youth, who feel stagnant and trapped by what their environment tells them they can and can’t do.” The center was booming with talent and passionate entrepreneurs ready to work!

This years Essence Fest concert came with performances from artists like The Roots, Xscape, Salt and Peppa, Queen Latifah, H.E.R., Miguel, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Kirk Franklin, and many many more. I had the pleasure of being backstage in the V.I.P. section and meeting some of the stars while also being able to sit close and experience the sounds of The Roots who had performed with Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. Essence Fest celebrates black talent while also showcasing it which makes such an uplifting environment. Essence Fest 2019 will be even better than the last and I hope you get the opportunity to experience such excellence.
