Teyana & Iman: TV Review

Since the premiere of Teyana Taylor’s new reality show Teyana & Iman there has been nothing but raving reviews about the new acclaimed series. The series is to be said nothing like regular reality shows and has set a whole new outlook on reality shows as a unit.

Teyana & Iman follows the livelihoods of both the entertainer and the NBA champion. The series also features both the couples parents, close friends and of course their one and only baby daughter, Junie. The show includes an inside look into Taylor’s video shoots, Iman’s daddy day care adventures with Junie and some very intimate moments with the two newlyweds and their daughter. The dynamic duo is seen working hard to achieve a work-life balance in the most positive way. “We are a positive black family that have their issues but still work through it” said Taylor, “This is real life, this is raw reality.”

The series emphasizes the real importance of family and being good parents. It shows how difficult it is to balance a professional life and as well as a personal life. It is obvious that the vibrant couple loves what they do and has a crazy but effective way of making both their very different lifestyles work for them. The way they live their most busy lives is a prime example of what can happen when you live a life driven singley out of pure love and dedication.

Although some people feel as if the show doesn’t really add that much to a standard reality

concept, I feel that the show has brought a new spotlight in reality television shows. Along with myself and many other viewers, the series has come to bring a creative millennial spin on what a real black family looks like. I think it gives the newer generation and older ones something to strive for when it comes to their time to settle down and create their own legacy. I feel it also shows what sacrifices and compromises have to be made in order to make a relationship work along with very demanding careers.

I can honestly say without a doubt that I am here for all of it and can’t wait for what else the family has instore for us. Check out this sneak peek of the new series and make sure you catch the power couple family on VH1 on Mondays at 9pm.
