SZA Plans To Retire After Next Album?
Of course we know her for making the weekend our favorite days of the week. Her big hair sets trends hunty! SZA is a sensational singer/songwriter who has broke the charts with many of her songs from her most recent album, CTL. Many of us love her music and are waiting for her to stir up some more magic. The real tea is, what does my girl have coming up next? Well maybe that was the wrong question to ask; looks like this Dove in the Wind may be dropping the mic and leaving the building. That’s right, the 27 year old songstress is thinking of packing up her mic and retiring. Now, SZA hasn't completely revealed an early retirement but, in her recent interview with Flaunt Magazine, she revealed that her next album might actually be her last one.
Although fans may see all of the glitz and glamour, and of course have that 20 Something reason for loving her, sadly Ms. Rowe has said that with all of the fame she is miserable! In the interview she stated, “My world got so much smaller so fast. I have so much to write about. I feel like I’m in a cage. I’m making the best album of my life for this next album and I know that… because it’s going to be my last album”. Apparently she delivered the news with a smile, which suggests she may or may not be serious about quitting.
Now for us this is shocking considering the fact that the Saint Louis native was the most nominated female artist of 2018, with a total of five Grammy nominations for her debut album. Not only do we love her music but also her humble, yet relatable, attitude. After being snubbed in each category, SZA stated that, “God didn’t give [her] the Grammys because, he [knew she] would have quit”, since she has,“nothing else to do”. In another interview last July with Glamour Magazine, she also explained that she does have a short attention span and feels as if she doesn't like things that aren't fun anymore or doesn't help her grow.
“This is a space where I feel like I’m growing and having a good time. I’m learning a lot, but sometimes it gets to be a lot and I feel like I can’t grow in this space. Like, I have to do something different to grow”
Though we would hate to see her go, I guess the decision is on her. However we’re not totally out of luck. According to SmashBoxx.TV, “The TDE songstress is still in the early stages of her second project but, she’s coming up with little catchphrases that jumpstart her creative process”. At the end of the day, even if SZA leaves the game, at least she'll leave us with something to bump through our headphones as we walk to class, drink coffee at work, or even sing terribly in the shower. Back in 2016 she teased all of her wonderful fans with a simple tweet stating, “I Quit”. Girl quit playing with us and give the people what they want. She may not see this but, SZA baby you're legendary!
