Freestyle Friday is Back!

Freestyle Friday is back? Yes please!! For those of you who may or may not know Freestyle Friday was a weekly segment that first premiered on B.E.T.’s 106 & Park years ago, but I guess everything that has passed has to be revived one day right? Well, news is it’s back and we’re so excited! Though this time there's, a twist! The creators of Freestyle Friday and YouTube are now teaming up to bring it back!

According to BET, they plan to launch #FreestyleFridayBET which will allow undiscovered MCs around the world to upload their videos and have the chance to possibly battle other MCs at YouTube Studios. These studios are in some of the biggest cities in the world: London, New York, Toronto, and Los Angeles. Each MC will have 60 seconds to convince people of their talent. Handpicked by radio DJs around the world, one finalist from each city will be chosen and will then be cast in a digital ballot for the Top Ten; with the world able to vote for their favs.

What’s next? After that, the rapper who receives the highest ranking will be crowned the winner of #FreestyleFridayBET exclusively in their city! But, that’s not all! We keep getting surprises! The four finalist from each city will then be flown to L.A. and entered into a rap battle to be judged by a celebrity panel during the BET Experience on June 23rd. What a way to make a comeback BET!

We can’t wait to see what’s next to come. We’ll be watching from home, but with the anticipation & adrenaline we’re sure we’ll feel like we're there in person. So, be prepared bring your undivided attention because this year’s BET experience will be one to remember. OKURTTTTT!
