What's in it for HBCUs?

On Tuesday February 27th, President Trump announced his Historically Black and Universities initiative as he and his administration prioritize predominately black institutions. The purpose of this initiative is to strengthen HBCU’S around the U.S. The plan includes a budget of $80 Million in title III carryover funding, an additional $20 Million for programs outside of the funds already requested, a $400 Million increase to the Trio Program that helps individuals from unfortunate backgrounds and circumstances and a $300 million increase to the work study program. President Trump also announces the HBCU Broad of advisors as well 31 agencies that aim to assist the schools. This would definitely help close the gap between HBCU’s and the white house as it serves as a gateway to help students get in school and stay in school.
