Teyana Taylor Opens up Slammin 90’s Inspired Nail Salon in Harlem
Everyone’s favorite fitness and runway queen (and soon to be reality star), Teyana Taylor, is taking it old school with the grand opening of her 90’s inspired Nail Salon, Junie B. Nails. Along with her grand opening, Taylor has announced that she will also be the new fresh face of popular nail polish brand, OPI.
World-wide known designer Dapper Dan assisted Taylor when it came to creating uniforms to fit the ever so stylin’ salon. “The salon will have a graffiti street-art feel, a mix of cool and playful in my hometown of Harlem, I want it to be an experience,” said Taylor in a statement. It is completely obvious that Taylor is going for a everything-is-fly type of vibe with Junie B Nails, named after her 2 year old daughter.
Taylor also partners up with London-born artist, Coca Michelle, an expert of nail art since the age of 6. “ Taking it all the way back to airbrush.” she says. “ There will be retro nails, new nails, gel, natural, acrylic, all that, anything you want” Of course Taylor plucked nail artists with the true essence of Harlem to be included in her staff. Which is why Taylor and Michelle were so adamant to hire a staff from an open call to artists via social media. “I always wanted to open up a nail salon in Harlem, mainly to spread more opportunity in my community, because there are so many young girls out here who are so talented but their work is never being seen.” Junie B Nails will be located at 2300 7th Avenue in Harlem. For a person who can never leave the house without the paws and claws done, I am anxious to see what Taylor is going to be bringing to the streets. Now hit the boombox.
