Chance the Rapper Stays in the Christmas Spirit
On December 6th, his non-profit foundation, SocialWorks, received a $1 million grant from Google.org. SocialWorks mission is to expose young people across Chicago to programming by helping provide the necessary support in arts, music and coding. The grant will also help teachers incorporate computer science and arts in their classrooms.
Just recently, Chance The Rapper, a self-proclaimed “sneakerhead” himself teamed up with Nike to gift the kids in attendance of the “Open Mike” night with pairs of Jordan Retro 11s. The shoe itself cost $220 and won't even be dropping until this Saturday. Chance and Nike came through with 300 pairs to give back to the kids.
Chance the Rapper is the perfect example of what having a platform as a celebrity should be like. He not only makes music, but has made it his mission to also give back. Whether it's through his non-profit’s events or donating money to help the arts in public schools, he's been active in helping improve the lives of Chicago youth in whatever way he can through his position.
