Another Kevin Spacey Allegation.. and The Truth?
Earlier in the week, Star Trek actor, Anthony Rapp, claimed that House of Cards actor, Kevin Spacey made sexual advances towards Rapp. He was only 14, while Spacey was 26 at the time.
During an interview with Buzzfeed, Rapp revealed that he became close with Spacey while he was doing a show on Broadway and during this time Spacey invited him to a party where the incident took place.
In response to these allegations, Spacey released this statement on Twitter:
Spacey, not denying the allegation, simply blames his level of intoxication for the lack of remembrance. But, at the pivotal moment of all the allegations, Spacey reveals that he has had relationships with both women and men throughout his life and now chooses to live strictly as a gay man.
He quickly began to receive backlash for his ‘apology' for what seems to be an attempt to rationalize the incident by using his sexuality as a scapegoat for his actions and further feeding into the negative stereotype of gay men being predators.
Hollywood has been plagued with numerous sexual assault accusations towards rich, White males; many of these accusers have been shown to be women, but in this case it proves that men can also be victims of sexual assault. The reality is that sexual assault can happen to anyone.
