Black Girls Rock! 2017 Honorees

The Black Girls Rock Award show is here to let everyone know just how powerful and excellent black women are. The annual award show will be broadcasted on both BET Network and Centric TV, and is set to be hosted by the queen herself, Taraji P. Henson. The show was pre-recorded Aug. 5 at the Performing Arts Center in Newark, N. J. and is set to air Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 8 p.m. This year’s Black Girls Rock Awards will honor the likes of Issa Rae, Yara Shahidi, Roberta Flack, Suzanne Shank, Natalie and Derrica Wilson and Congresswomen Maxine Waters for their achievements in the fields of entertainment, social justice, community activism and politics. But the party doesn’t stop there. India Arie, SZA, Leidisi and Anthony Hamilton, and Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Tyrese are all set to perform at the award show.
