From Meme to Movie: Rihanna and Lupita Nyongo

Memes are apparently the new wave if you want to try and pitch your movie idea, so we suggest you dive into the sea now!

That was the case when it came to Rihanna and Lupita Nyongo at least! There was a picture of them serving #BlackGirlMagic at the 2014 Miu Miu fashion show that was posted on Tumblr originally with the caption: “They look like they’re in a heist movie with Rihanna as the tough-as-nails leader/master thief and Lupita as the genius computer hacker.”

The picture and caption eventually made its way to Twitter, where the caption was changed to “Rihanna looks like she scams rich white men and Lupita is the computer smart best friend that helps plan the scans” and of course blew up with everyone discussing how that movie would be one they wouldn’t want to miss out on. Things started to get serious, when Lupita got eyes on the trending message and mentioned Rihanna, letting her know that she was “down” to do it, if she was. Everyone on Twitter went into a frenzy waiting for them to confirm the new fan-made request. Then RiRi sent a tweet back saying “I’m in Pit’z”

The actresses were now on board but the people couldn’t let this die, journalist, Mikelle Street sent it into overboard by mentioning Selma director, Ava DuVernay letting her know it was time for her to jump on ship. When Ava confirmed that she was ready to work, everyone basically rejoiced.
