Turner/Warner Bros. to Launch Netflix-Like Boomerang Cartoon Subscription Service
You read that right! Your favorite cartoons such as “Tom & Jerry”, “The Jetsons” and “Scooby Doo” can be back for you to watch at a low price, if you don’t have the Boomerang channel. They just announced on Tuesday, March 7, that they would start a subscription video on demand service, just like Netflix, but for your favorite old-time cartoons. Through Boomerang’s internet-video service, which will have no ads, will be available for a low price of $4.99 per month.
The content will be rotated weekly and it’s going to have so many titles available that we know you’ve missed. Even if you already have the Boomerang channel, Turner Broadcasting will be offering this streaming service as a “complementary product” to help new “revenue streams”.
There is a downside to this though. If you don’t have either or, you will not be able to watch new episodes of “Scooby Doo”, “Looney Tunes” and “Tom & Jerry”. But hey, $4.99/month isn’t so bad really. So is it really a loss?
The upside to this new SVOD will not be open online, but also via iOS and Android systems. Later, Turner wants to expand to Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV. Some other great features include having multiple family-based profiles, personalized recommendations, download options for offline viewing, and interactive features.
This service is planned to roll out this Spring!
