Steve Breaks His Silence!
If you were born in the 90s one might say you did not have a childhood if you never pulled out your handy dandy note book, sang “we just got a letter” when the mail came, or if you never tried to blue skidoo into a book or portrait around the house. You really did not have a childhood if you weren’t confused when Steve with the classic striped shirt was gone and Steve’s cousin Joe started taking care of Blue in 2002.
Everyone questioned why after seven years Steve would just abruptly leave Blue’s Clues with no explanation. Some very imaginative people claimed that Steve liked children and was fired from the show and according to the Internet Steve was a drug addict and overdosed on drugs or was killed in a car crash. Steve Burns denies those claims.
In an interview with Huffington Post, Steve states, “I Googled the conditions of life, and I meet every single one of them, I can assure you, I am certainly alive. I know that for sure.” Along with the assumptions that Steve’s absence was due to a horrible life and death, people also assumed that he left to pursue a music career. Steve Burns and friend Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips will be releasing a new kid’s album called “Foreverywhere.”
Pursuing a music career is not why Steve left the show either that was just a coincidental dream come true. So what is the reason Steve left? Burns explained that he was getting too old for the show and that even his hair was starting to fall out “I left the show because it was just simply time to go. I was pretty much playing a boyish, older-brotherish kind of character on the show,” Steve explains to Huffington Post, “I was getting older; I was losing my hair; a lot of the original gangsters on the show, like the people who created it, were all moving on to other careers. It just felt like time. I just had a gut feeling like it was time to go,”
Since the show has debuted 20 years ago he describes his experience on the show as unreal, he was in awe the millions of people were tuned in to watch him on television but it was the most awesome experience he has had.
