Ava DuVernay Confirms A Wrinkle In Time Cast!
It has been previously reported that hit filmmaker Ava DuVernay and Disney would be taking over the reins of the classic 1963 novel by Madeleine L’Engle for its latest film adaptation. The film is described as a “reimagining” of L’Engle’s novel that follows Meg Murry, her brilliant brother Charles Wallace, and their friend Calvin on an unexpected journey into alternate dimensions on a mission to bring home their father. With filming beginning earlier this month and the film set to drop in 2018, the studio has officially finalized its cast.
DuVernay is working from a screenplay by Frozen scribe and co-director Jennifer Lee. She is teaming up with director of photography Tobias A. Schliessler, who has worked on Dreamgirls, Lone Survivor, and who is just coming off of shooting Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast. The team also includes production designer Naomi Shohan (American Beauty), costume designer Paco Delgado (The Danish Girl), and visual effects supervisor Rich McBride (Gravity). With all of these people behind the scenes the big budget fantasy is sure to be a hit but what really stands out is the beautifully diverse and inclusive cast.
The main cast is comprised of an equal amount of male & female actors and has representation of almost every race and ethnicity (if not all). Leading the charge is newcomer Storm Reed as Meg Murry, seen in the 2013 film, 12 Years A Slave. Reed is joined by a lot of names from seasoned to up and coming actors & actresses.
