JOHN LEGEND & TIKA SUMPTER DEVELOPING A NEW SERIES!

Tika Sumpter and John Legend are teaming up for a series about "Black Wall Street." The television show is being developed by Legend's production company, Get Lifted Film Co., with the addition of Sumpter, who also executive produced the Barack and Michelle Obama film, Southside With You.

The series will plot one of the largest mass killings of African American in the nation's history. Set in Greenwood, Tulsa, a mob of white supremacists burned and destroyed the town's wealthy Black community, which included businesses, nightclubs, and hospitals.

The 1921 race riot left hundreds dead and even more hundreds injured. The massacre destroyed the successful community that earned the nickname Black Wall Street.

Black Wall Street is currently in its early stage of development and is scheduled for a 2018 premiere.
