Dascha Polanco Slams Designers Who Body Shame
Dascha Polanco is yet another star who says “F” what society says about standard beauty. Her statement is just the same as JoJo: you don’t have to be a certain size to be beautiful and wanted. In her case, a fashion icon.
Her issue: her size. Many designers do not want to style her because she is too “big” for their garments.
Polanco expressed her issue with Vogue magazine not too long ago.
“I had a situation with a high-end brand the other day where I had personally invested so much money purchasing their items, and I love what they do, so I had my publicist reach out to their PR team. Their response was, ‘Oh, you’re not the sizes we have, not right now, maybe in the future,”
And at the moment, is when she realized something has to change. She explained that some day down the road she wants to design her own line of clothing since not being the typical size 2 is such a big issue in the fashion world. And her parting words to all the designers/brands who turned her down is that she will not forget the ones who made it a problem to style her in the future.
Polanco proudly proclaimed, “Even though I’m a size 8 or 10, I can still look as great as someone who is a size 0.”
