Kerry Washington Fired For Not Being “Hood” Enough

Actress Kerry Washington and Comedian/Actor Aziz Ansari were the latest to sit down for a chat for Variety and PBS’ “Actors on Actors” series. In the interview the two actors/producers discussed racial stereotypes they both have had to face and the necessity of creating their own opportunities. Washington went on to reveal that, “before Scandal, [she] was actually cast in two other pilots. Both went to series, but [she] was fired and recast. For both, it was because they wanted [her] to sound more girlfriend…more hood”. The one hour series, while now in its fourth season, features fascinating, intimate conversations between the top talents from the year’s most notable television programs.
