“New Edition: The Movie”: Cast Revealed
Earlier today at the BET Upfront the official cast of the upcoming New Edition mini-series was revealed. The series will chronicle the lives of the influential boy band from the childhood days in Boston all the way up to 1980’s superstardom including their highs and lows. It will be broken into three parts and will premiere as a three night event. The actors set to play the youngsters include Dante Hoagland; Caleb McLaughlin; Jahi Winston; Myles Truitt and Tyler Williams (Fun Fact: Everybody Hates Chris’s little brother. After the time jump Empire’s resident bad boy Bryshere “Yazz” Gray is set to take over the role of Michael Bivins. He will be joined by Elijah Kelley (“The Wiz Live!” "HairSpray") as Ricky Bell; Luke James (“Black Nativity”) as Johnny Gill; Algee Smith (“Let It Shine”) as Ralph Tresvant; Keith Powers (“Straight Outta Compton”) as Ronnie Devoe, and Woody McClain (“Autographs”) as Bobby Brown. Production on the project is set to begin shooting in May in Los Angeles and will premiere on BET in 2017.
