Ava DuVernay's Doll Sells Out In 17 Minutes Online!
Ava DuVernay is high demand! Demand was so high for DuVernay’s Barbie likeness that the $65 doll sold out in less than 20 minutes. The “Selma” director was immortalized by Mattel in a limited-edition doll, and the toy sold out Monday just minutes after going on sale. “Sold out on Barbie collection, I'm told,” the 43-year-old tweeted. “What the hell is going on? #bananas #nuts #whoa.” In April, Mattel released six special-edition Barbie dolls to celebrate six “sheroes,” including DuVernay, Kristin Chenoweth and Emmy Rossum, honored at Variety’s Power of Women Luncheon. The Barbies were originally created as one-of-a-kind pieces to be auctioned off by the celebs to benefit the charity of their choice. But after fans took to social media expressing a desire to buy their own “#AvaBarbie,” Mattel made the doll available for sale on its website. But don't worry if you're looking to buy the doll yourself, fans will have another shot of scoring it, with the doll also made available for purchase Monday afternoon on Amazon!
